Seven new players have received their maiden contracts from the BCCI.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released the central contracts for the senior men’s Indian Cricket Team for the 2024-25 season on Monday, April 21, 2025. The season ranges from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025. A total of 34 players are part of the latest contracts. The BCCI has four categories under its contracts – Grade A+, Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C.
Senior Indian players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja have retained their spots in the Grade A+ category. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja represent the national team only in tests and ODIs now. The trio announced retirement from the shortest format after ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June last year. Jasprit Bumrah is a key pacer for India across all three formats.
A total of six players are part of Grade A category. Batters KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant are part of Grade A. Pacers Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj are also part of the same grade. The sixth member is all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
Five players are part of the Grade B category and will get a salary of INR 3 crores per year. They are Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer. Interestingly, Iyer was dropped from the BCCI annual contracts last year, but has made a successful comeback with his marvellous show in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Some young Indian players have made their entry into the BCCI central contracts after performing well for the Indian national team over the last two years. A total of seven players have bagged their maiden contracts.
Varun Chakravarthy, who played a key role in the Indian Cricket Team’s victory in ICC Champions Trophy 2025 earlier this year, is one such player. Opener Abhishek Sharma, who made his international debut for the India against Zimbabwe last year, is another new member. Below is the list of all seven players to receive maiden contracts by the BCCI.
