Ben Stokes achieves historic record for all-rounders in test cricket; Joins Sir Garry Sobers, Jacques Kallis in elite list

England test captain Ben Stokes achieved a historic milestone and joined elite club of legendary all-rounders Garry Sobers and Jacques Kallis during second day of the ongoing first test match against the West Indies at the Lord’s Cricket Stadium on July 11.
The English side got a huge boost as Stokes returned to bowling with his full capacity in the ongoing first match of the three-game test series against the West Indies, which started from July 10.
In the first innings, Stokes bowled eight overs and picked one wicket of batter Mikyle Louis as the visitors were bundled out for 121 on day 1. The hosts then dominated the second day and put up a total of 371 to take their lead over 200.
In West Indies’ second innings, the hosts exposed visitors’ inexperienced batting line-up as they rocked them to 79/6 at the end of Day 2 on. Currently, the West Indies are trailing by 171 runs and are on the verge of facing an innings defeat on Day 3.
Stokes becomes third cricketer to take 200 wickets and score over 6000 runs in Tests.
During second day of the ongoing test, England veteran all-rounder Stokes achieved a historic feat as he completed 200 test wickets. After picking his second wicket of the game, he joined the likes of Sir Garry Sobers and Jacques Kallis to become third cricketer to achieve a double of 6000 runs and 200 wickets in test cricket.
The 33-year-old veteran all-rounder has so far played 102 tests for England. He has scored 6,320 runs at an average of 35.31, including 13 hundreds and 31 half-centuries. With the ball, Stokes has picked 201 wickets so far at an average of 31.72. He also has 4 five-wicket hauls to his name.
Ahead of Stokes is West Indies’ legendary all-rounder Sobers, who played 93 tests and amassed 8,032 runs. Sobers had a stunning average of 57.78, including 26 hundreds and 30 fifties. With the ball, the great cricketer scalped 235 wickets at an average of 34.03.
Legendary South African all-rounder Kallis is leading the elite list. Kallis played 166 tests and smashed 13,289 runs at an average of 55.37. The great all-rounder also hammered 45 centuries and 58 half-centuries in whites. With the ball, Kallis picked 292 wickets, including five fifers in his legendary test cricket career.
