5. 5/7 vs West Indies, North Sound, 2019
Jasprit Bumrah’s fifth-best bowling figures in test cricket came during the first test match against the West Indies in North Sound in August 2019.
India made 297 runs in the first innings. In reply, host West Indies scored 222 runs in their first innings. In the second innings, India declared at 343/7 after Ajinkya Rahane made 102. The visitors set a massive target of 418 runs.
While defending it, Bumrah showcased his class by taking a five-wicket haul in just eight overs. Bumrah ended his second innings with mind-blowing figures of 5/7 in eight overs as India won the match by 318 runs.
4. 6/61 vs South Africa, Cape Town, 2024
Bumrah showcased his magic with the ball during the second test against South Africa in Cape Town on the 2023/24 tour.
In the first innings, South Africa were bundled out for just 55 runs after Mohammed Siraj took a six-wicket haul. In reply, India made 153 runs.
In the second innings, Bumrah dismantled the hosts’ batting line-up with a six-wicket haul. Bumrah’s 6/61 in 13.5 overs helped India restrict the Proteas for 176 runs. India chased down the 80-run target and won the match by seven wickets.
3. 6/45 vs England, Visakhapatnam, 2024
In Visakhapatnam in February 2024, Bumrah rocked England with a sensational performance during the second test of the five-match series.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s double ton helped India post 396 runs in the first innings. In reply, England were bundled out for just 253 runs after Bumrah bagged a six-wicket haul.
The speedster ended his first innings spell with 6/45 in 15.5 overs. In the second innings, India made 255 runs and set a target of 398. While chasing, England were all-out for 292 runs and lost the match by 106. Bumrah took a three-wicket haul in the second innings.
2. 6/33 vs Australia, Melbourne, 2018
One of Bumrah’s most memorable performances in test cricket came at the MCG on his maiden test tour of Australia in 2018/19. During the third test of the series, Bumrah crushed the Australian batting line-up with his firey spell.
India declared at 443/7 in their first innings. In reply, Australia surrendered against Bumrah’s outstanding display of quality. The pacer took six wickets in 15.5 overs as the hosts were bundled out for just 151 runs. This included a special slower ball yorker to trap Shaun Marsh lbw – a moment that is etched in Indian cricket’s folklore and Bumrah’s legacy.
In India’s second innings, the visitors declared at 106/8 and set a target of 399 runs for Australia. While defending it, Bumrah took a three-wicket haul and India won the match by 137 runs. Bumrah was named Player of the Match for his nine wickets in the game.
1. 6/27 vs West Indies, Kingston, 2019
Bumrah’s best bowling figures in test cricket came during the second test match against the West Indies in Kingston in 2019. India scored 416 runs in their first innings. In reply, the West Indies were outclassed by Bumrah’s magical bowling performance.
The Indian speedster claimed his first-ever test hat-trick as the West Indies were all out for just 117 runs. Bumrah recorded figures of 6/27 in 12.1 overs.
In the second innings, India declared at 168/4 and set a target of 468 runs. While chasing, the West Indies managed to put up only 210 on the board lost the match by 257 runs.
