Gujarat Titans spent heavily on pace bowlers in the IPL 2024 mini auction.

In just two Indian Premier League seasons, Gujarat Titans made a huge impact on everyone’s mind. Gujarat Titans won their maiden IPL title in their debut season in IPL 2022. Gujarat Titans made their entry in the league along with Lucknow Super Giants when the governing council decided to increase the number of teams to 10 from 8. Titans had a major shakeup before the auction as Hardik Pandya shifted his base to Mumbai Indians in an all-cash deal. 

Opener Shubman Gill was announced the captain immediately after Hardik Pandya’s move out of Titans and Gill will be having his first-hand experience as leader of the squad. Pandya’s move will make a huge impact on Titans’ playing XI combination for the upcoming season. Gujarat Titans spent their money mostly on strengthening their pace bowling line-up and purchased the likes of Umesh Yadav, Kartik Tyagi, and Spencer Johnson.

Titans also inducted Shahrukh Khan for 7.40 crores INR as a finisher along with Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai. Shahrukh Khan will be trusted as a finisher in the team. Afghan all-rounder had a wonderful campaign in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 attracting bids from many franchises. Azmatullah Omarzai will be replacing Hardik Pandya in the playing XI and he might also be given the role of the middle-order batter.

Gujarat Titans’ leading run-scorer Shubman Gill will be leading the side and will take the responsibility as an opener along with wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha. Gill might need an experienced mind along with him in the field and there is no better option than Kane Williamson to assist him in crunch moments. Sai Sudharshan has fixed his place in the squad as a middle-order batter with consecutive half-centuries against South Africa in ODIs.

Shahrukh Khan and David Miller will be taking up the responsibility in the lower-order along with Rahul Tewatia who will be playing as a spin-bowling all-rounder and batting at number 7. Rashid Khan will be the fixed option in the spin-bowling department with Noor Ahmed. Mohit Sharma, and Mohammed Shami will be the two pacers who have done well for the franchise along with Joshua Little.
