Best possible Sunrisers Hyderabad playing XI for IPL 2024 after auction

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a few bargain buys in the IPL mini auction 2024.

IPL 2016 winners Sunrisers Hyderabad were the proactive table in IPL mini-auction held in Dubai. Hyderabad had a few bargain buys in the auction along with the second most expensive player, Pat Cummins for 20.50 crores INR. SRH got Australian opener Travis Head for 6.80 crores INR and T20 specialist spinning all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga at his base price of just 1.50 crores INR. SRH have had a disappointing campaign in the previous two IPL seasons. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad now have several overseas options available for the playing XI. SRH might also look to change the leadership of their side. Sunrisers spent a heavy amount on Pat Cummins most likely to replace Aiden Markram as captain of the side. Markram led Sunrisers EasternCape successfully in SA20 but he had a disappointing run in the IPL. SRH managed to win only 10 out of their 28 league encounters in the previous two seasons.

Travis Head and Pat Cummins’ inclusion along with Wanindu Hasaranga has brought enough balance to the side. It will be mainly dependent on how these players will flare when the actual season begins in March 2024. There is a huge possibility of Aiden Markram moving up the order to accommodate Pat Cummins in the playing XI along with Wanindu Hasaranga and wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klassen who had a blistering performance last season. 

If Aiden Markram remains captain, he might be promoted up the order and come out as an opener along with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head might be benched. Mayank Agarwal may bat at number 4 while Rahul Tripathi will be Hyderabad’s number 3 option. Heinrich Klassen will be playing the role of a finisher along with Abdul Samad and all-rounder Washington Sundar may also be inducted into the playing XI along with Wanindu Hasaranga. 

Umran Malik might not make it into the playing XI initially as Hyderabad have plenty of options in the pace bowling department. Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and T Natarajan will be the three pacers in the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp. There might be a possibility of Mayank Markande playing in the XI if Markram stays as captain and they go with Heinrich Klassen, Pat Cummins, and Travis Head as foreign players in the XI.
