Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his fourth test hundred in the Perth test.

Yong Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a magnificent century (161) to power India to a commanding position on day 3 of the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 test in Perth.

Jaiswal has been pivotal in India’s comeback in the test. Starting day 3 on the score of 90*, the Southpaw helped India extend their lead past the 300-run mark. The 22-year-old hit 15 boundaries and three sixes in his record innings. The most memorable moment of the day came when Jaiswal played a stunning uppercut to reach his maiden test hundred on Australian soil.

Earlier in the day, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal resumed India’s innings at 172/0. The duo extended their record-breaking opening stand by adding 29 more runs before KL Rahul was dismissed for a well-made 77, by Mitchell Starc.

Jaiswal’s incredible knock not only helped India gain massive lead in the game, but also has helped him achieve several records.

With this incredible knock, Jaiswal has equalled Sachin Tendulkar’s Indian record for hitting most 150+ scores in test cricket before turning 23. This milestone also places him alongside other legends like Javed Miandad and Graeme Smith, with only Sir Don Bradman ahead in this elite category.

Most 150+ scores in tests before turning 23:

1. Don Bradman – 8

2. Sachin Tendulkar – 4

3. Javed Miandad – 4

4. Graeme Smith – 4

5. Yashasvi Jaiswal – 4

Meanwhile, at the time of writing, India’s lead has crossed 400. With cracks opening up, the visitors will aim for a target of around 500. The Asian giants will hope to replicate their first-innings bowling performance.
