Jasprit Bumrah bowled Sam Konstas for only eight runs in Australia’s second innings at the MCG.

In seven years of his test career, Jasprit Bumrah had never been treated the way Sam Konstas did in the first innings of the fourth BGT 2024-25 test.

The young Aussie debutant took 18 runs off an over from Bumrah, after having taken 14 runs off an over already, and scooped and reverse-scooped him thrice in an over too. He also hit him for two sixes in the innings – only once anyone had ever done that before. Overall, Konstas smashed 34 off 33 off Bumrah.

Further, he egged the crowd too. He gestured the crowd to cheer more when he was toying with Bumrah and also when Virat Kohli was dismissed in India’s first innings.

Repercussions of all these were bound to happen. And there is no better way for a bowler to have his sweet revenge than rattling the batsman’s stumps. And there’s nobody better in the world than Jasprit Bumrah at this.

So when Bumrah hit the middle-stump of Konstas in his second innings on day 4 at the MCG, the Indian spearhead pacer celebrated animatedly, gesturing to the crowd and egging them as Konstas had done earlier. The MCG turning into a theatre.

Bumrah didn’t allow Konstas to get away today, getting rid of him for only eight runs. It needed a special delivery from the best fast bowler in the world: a back of length ball that pitched outside the off-stump and seamed in significantly, beating Konstas in his defensive shot, and going through his gate to crash into the stumps.
