Mitchell Marsh bowled 17 overs in Perth and complained of soreness.

Ahead of the second BGT 2024-25 test against India, which will be played in Adelaide, hosts Australia have received a major boost as all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has declared himself “good to go,” though it remains unclear how many overs he would be able to bowl.

Marsh bowled 17 overs in the first test in Perth, the most he’s bowled in a test match in the last three years, and pulled up sore after the game.

Australia then added Tasmania all-rounder Beau Webster, the Sheffield Shield player of the season 2023-24, to their squad for the Adelaide test.

After the Perth test, coach Andrew McDonald had expressed uncertainties around Marsh’s fitness and his participation in the Adelaide test, which is a day/night match to be played with a pink ball, starting on December 6.

Will Mitchell Marsh play in Adelaide?

All-rounder Mitchell Marsh now has confirmed that he is fit enough to play in Adelaide, though his bowling workload will be monitored carefully.

He arrived in Adelaide on Monday where he told Nine News that his “body’s all good” and “I’m good to go” for the 2nd BGT 2024-25 test match.

Check it out here:

In India’s first innings in Perth, Marsh dismissed Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar. With the bat, he recorded scores of 6 and 47. His bowling workload got a bit increased in India’s second innings, where he bowled 12 overs.

He hasn’t bowled much in the past few years owing to his fragile, injury-prone body and has played mostly as a specialist batter with a few overs here and there. He missed the 2022/23 summer due to an ankle surgery. The absence of the injured Cameron Green has meant Pat Cummins needed overs from Marsh and Marnus Labuschagne in Perth as India batted for 134 overs in their second innings.
