Mohammed Siraj castled Travis Head with a yorker in the Adelaide test.
India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has contradicted the statement made by Travis Head in the press conference after play on day 2 of the Adelaide test about the chatter between the two after the seamer yorked the left-handed batsman.
Head blasted a century at his home ground on day 2 of the 2nd BGT 2024-25 test to put Australia in a commanding position.
Through Head’s blistering ton, the hosts ended up with a lead of 157 runs after bowling India out for 180 runs. The left-hander’s counter-attacking knock all but put the game out of India’s reach and the hosts would be progressing towards a series-levelling win on day 3.
Head’s century was at the end marred by a brief moment of altercation with Siraj after he was bowled by the seamer’s terrific yorker.
In the post-day press conference, Head claimed he had said “well bowled” to Siraj but the bowler didn’t take it lightly and retaliated with some gestures and angry words.
“I actually jokingly said ‘well bowled’, then he pointed me in the sheds and I had my reaction as well,” Head said.
Head lied in the press conference: Mohammed Siraj
Now, Siraj has come up with a statement of his own, saying that Head lied about his remark to him in the press conference.
“I enjoyed bowling at him because it was a good battle. When you get hit for a good delivery, it fills you with even more energy. I celebrated after the bowled dismissal, and you saw what he said on TV. I didn’t say anything on TV, he lied in the press conference that he told me ‘well bowled’. We know it wasn’t that,” Siraj said on Star Sports.
“We don’t disrespect anyone. Cricket is a gentleman’s game, but the way he did what he did was wrong,” Siraj added.
Meanwhile, India have lost three wickets, including Rishabh Pant, in the first hour of play on day 3. At the time of writing, they are 155/8, trailing by two more runs.
