Virat Kohli and Rohit were dismissed cheaply in the third test of the BGT 2024-25.
The third test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 now stands on the verge of a draw after India‘s remarkable fightback on Day 4 at the Gabba.
Resuming their innings at 51/4, India faced early trouble as captain Rohit Sharma was again dismissed cheaply by Australian skipper Pat Cummins. Respite for India came through KL Rahul, who played an 84-run knock and absorbed the pressure.
Rahul was well supported by Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 77 runs and played a key role in the 67-run stand with Rahul, followed by a 53-run partnership with Nitish Kumar Reddy.
The most important moment for the visitors on day 4 in Brisbane came when Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep stitched together an unbeaten 39-run partnership to avoid the follow-on for India. At 213/9, a follow-on for India looked certain, but the resilience of the Indian pace duo dragged the team to safety.
A fight from Bumrah and Deep brought much-needed relief to the Indian camp. Senior player Virat Kohli and head coach Gautam Gambhir celebrated animatedly when Akash hit the boundary that helped India avoid the follow-on.

The game now appears to head towards a draw, with heavy rain forecasted for Wednesday in Brisbane. To add to Australia’s worries pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the test due to a calf injury. India will look to take some valuable time off from the game with their last-wicket partnership.
