Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 22 runs in his second innings at the SCG.
India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal finished his BGT 2024-25 with 391 runs, the most runs for his side and behind only Travis Head in the series, at an average of 43 with one century and two fifties.
Jaiswal’s series as a batsman came to a conclusion on day 2 of the fifth test in Sydney. He had started off India’s second innings in a cracking fashion by slashing Mitchell Starc for four fours in the first over.
However, from thereon, Australian pacers didn’t give him enough room to free his arms and he was eventually toppled by a jaffa from the metronomic Scott Boland.
Jaiswal gave India a solid start to their second innings after the visitors had taken a slender four-run first-innings lead. However, the left-hander’s innings was halted by a superb delivery from Boland, who now has 17 wickets in this series at an average of only 14.29.
In the absence of the injured Josh Hazlewood, Boland has been the supersub for Australia in this series and has simply been phenomenal in this test. After his 4/31 in the first innings, he knocked over both India openers, KL Rahul and Jaiswal.
To Jaiswal, he bowled from around the wicket and tightened his line. He pitched the ball on a good length and it seamed in. Jaiswal was neither forward or backward. The ball beat his outside edge and rammed into the top of the off-stump.
