Brian Lara holds the record of highest individual score in test cricket – 400.

Legendary cricketer Brian Lara has named two young Indian batters, who he thinks, can break his famous 400 runs record.

During the final match of the four-match test series between West Indies and England in April 2004, former West Indies captain Lara smashed the highest individual score ever in test cricket – 400 runs off 582 deliveries, including 43 fours and four maximum in the first innings.

Lara etched his name in the record books at the Antigua Recreation Ground in St. John’s. However, the match ended in a draw and England won the four-match test series 3-0.

Recently when asked who could break his record of highest individual score in tests, the West Indies great Lara suggested that young Indian batters Shubman Gill and Jaiswal might break his famous record of 400 not-out in test cricket. Lara added that the star duo of Gill and Jaiswal have the ability and skills to breach the record.

“How many aggressive players do you have playing today? Especially in the England team. Zak Crawley and Harry Brook. Maybe in the Indian team? Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill. If they find the right situation, the records could be broken – both of them,” Lara said to The Daily Mail.

The 22-year-old Jaiswal made a strong start to his test career for the Indian cricket team. In just nine matches, the left-handed batter has smashed 1028 runs at an average of 68.53. Jaiswal has three centuries and four half centuries to his name in the longest format.

His fellow teammate Gill has also been good for the Indian side in the longest format. In 25 tests, the 24-year-old has scored 1492 runs at an average of 35.52. Gill has four hundred and six fifties to his name.
