Hardik Pandya is expected to be traded by the Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2027.
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya had a disastrous season as a player and a leader in the Indian Premier League 2026. Under his captaincy, Mumbai Indians (MI) won just 4 and lost 10 of 14 games, witnessing a dismal performance.
With 8 points, they finished in the second-last spot in the points table. Apart from this, Pandya also failed to make a significant impact; he scored 206 runs at an average of 22.89 and took only four wickets in 10 matches.
Furthermore, reports of a rift between Pandya and MI began to surface on social media after he unfollowed the team on Instagram following the loss to RCB. However, about an hour later, he followed them.
According to several reports, Hardik is also not interested in leading MI in future, especially after failing to lead the team to the title since the 2024 edition.
Recently, some reports claimed that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are interested in grabbing the Indian all-rounder through a trade deal with Mumbai ahead of the IPL 2027 auction. However, CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has revealed that the Men in Yellow do not have such plans, at least as of now.
CSK have not held any talks with Hardik Pandya or MI

CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has dismissed reports of having contacted anyone regarding the trade of Pandya. Speaking to RevSportz, Vishwanathan revealed that CSK have not spoken to anyone at the MI franchise over Hardik’s trade.
“CSK haven’t even reviewed the season yet and we will only do so after the MLC is complete. I am currently in the US. We have not spoken to anyone and all that is being said about Hardik and CSK is not true,” Kasi Vishwanathan said.
The report by RevSportz further added that CSK have remained patient in the matter so far and are in a strong position to capture Pandya into their squad, if the need arises.
“CSK have remained patient observers as the buzz around Pandya’s movement has grown stronger. The five-time champions are timing their entry exactly the way they did during the blockbuster trade involving Sanju Samson, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran last season,” the report said.
“Currently, CSK are in a very strong position to sign Pandya, but late hiccups cannot be ruled out as player trades remain a tricky business in the IPL ecosystem. The role of an influential figure in the CSK set-up could hold the key to the trade’s direction,” the report further added.
Notably, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) have shown interest in adding Pandya to their squad ahead of the next season and have contacted MI management.
If the deal goes through, KKR are also considering handing over the captaincy to Pandya, as they wish to part ways with veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane ahead of IPL 2027.
