The series proved very beneficial for Padikkal, as he also scored his first 2 Test centuries. He was included in the playing XI in place of Sai Sudharsan, but his performances gave the team another strong option in the batting department.

When Padikkal playfully took a light-hearted dig at his senior Indian teammate, the comment quickly caught the attention of cricket fans. The exchange appeared to be purely for fun and showed the relaxed bond between the two players.
Both KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal are from Karnataka and have played a lot of cricket together. Their equation goes back to 2024, when Padikkal was called up to India’s Test squad as a replacement for Rahul.

Padikkal’s recent performances have also earned him an important role with India A. He has been named captain of India’s red-ball side for the upcoming multi-day matches against Australia A.
The batter will also serve as Ruturaj Gaikwad’s deputy in the India A one-day squad. The multi-format series against Australia A will feature two multi-day matches and three 50-over games.
The upcoming assignment will give Devdutt Padikkal another opportunity to lead and gain experience while remaining in contention for India’s senior Test side.
