Duleep Trophy 2024-25 will begin on September 5, with four teams taking part in the domestic tournament.
On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squads of four teams for the first round of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25.
The Duleep Trophy 2024-25 will mark the beginning of the Indian cricket domestic season. The upcoming Duleep Trophy is all set to begin on September 5 in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and Bengaluru.
The first round of the Duleep Trophy will feature star-studded regular Indian cricketers, including KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, and many more.
Surprisingly, star veteran Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin will not play in the upcoming Duleep Trophy tournament.
Previously, the Duleep Trophy was played in zonal format, with players across the nation divided into six zonal teams. However, for the 2024 season, the BCCI decided to discontinue the zonal format and instead opted for a four-team format, with the teams named A, B, C, and D.
The upcoming Duleep Trophy will be played in a round-robin format without any knockout matches. This means the team that has the most points at the end of the round-robin matches will be crowned as the champions of the 2024 edition.
