LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen having an animated conversation with KL Rahul after losing to SRH.
Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) bowling attack was torn apart by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on May 8.
After LSG’s daunting defeat against SRH in Hyderabad, Super Giants’ owner Sanjiv Goenka was seen having an animated chat with the team’s skipper KL Rahul and then with coach Justin Langer. Hyderabad’s opening duo made fun of LSG’s total of 165/4 as they chased down the target under 10 overs.
After the animated chat between Goenka and Rahul, the video surfaced online quickly and many fans raised questions about Goenka’s behaviour towards the captain.
However, following the match, a report emerged that Rahul’s captaincy is at stake after suffering a big defeat against Hyderabad with vice-captain Nicolas Pooran in contention take leadership responsibilities in for the remaining matches.
“There is a five-day gap before the next game against DC. As of now, no decision has been taken but it is understood that if Rahul plans to just concentrate on his batting for the remaining two games, the management won’t mind,” an IPL source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
It’s all rumours: confirms LSG source
After the reports came in on Rahul being sacked from LSG’s captaincy in the ongoing IPL 2024 tournament, a fresh report has emerged that the star player will not be sacked from his captaincy.
The report further added that there is no rift between Rahul and LSG owner Goenka, and everything is fine between them. “Everything is fine between the two” and “only Rahul will be leading the team this season.” sources close to LSG told IANS.
“It’s all rumours that Rahul will be displaced from the captaincy and won’t be picked in the auction. The last match didn’t go our way, but everything is fine now between the team and owners. Rahul is in good space and taking rest before the game against DC,” the report further added.
