Faf du Plessis may become a part of South African squad in next T20 World Cup in 2024.

The IPL 2023 has been a magnificent tournament so far for Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis. Faf is currently the orange cap holder with 631 runs in 12 innings. Looking at Faf Du Plessis' performance, South African coach Bob Walter has reached out to Former South African captain Faf du Plessis for a comeback in the South African team for upcoming ICC events. Faf has been batting superbly in the IPL 2023 and so far he has smashed 7 half-centuries in 12 innings and had batted with a strike rate of 154.27 at the age of 38. He is doing the bulk of the scoring for Royal Challengers Bangalore along with Virat Kohli and Glenn Maxwell.

Faf du Plessis will consider Walter's offer

RCB captain Faf du Plessis has put the offer on hold till the IPL 2023. Faf wants to consider this based on his physical fitness. Bob Walter has also offered Faf a place in South Africa’s ODI side in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in India. Faf feels ODI’s will demand more physical work than a T20 game, so he has to look at how his body reacts and then will decide on the offer. Talking about the offer, Faf said, “I am very grateful that the new coach has reached out to tell me that he would like me to be part of the team. At the moment, it’s just conversations to talk about where I am at physically”. Faf has not retired from the limited-overs format.

Faf has also revealed that he has been struggling with tennis elbow since last year. Talking to a South African website, He said, “I have been struggling with a tennis elbow for about a year now. I have had some injections into that… It’s a conversation where I feel like you got to look at the balance of where I am physically”. There’s a possibility Faf du Plessis will be part of the South African squad for the T20 World Cup in 2024.
