Faf du Plessis top-scored for Texas Super Kings in their win over Seattle Orcas in the ongoing MLC 2025.

In the 28th Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 match, Faf Du Plessis scored 91 runs for the Texas Super Kings (TSK) against the Seattle Orcas (SO), setting a world record and overtaking the legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli.

The Texas captain hammered 91 off 52 balls, but decided to retire himself out to let the big-hitters take charge. Texas scored a huge 188 runs on the board thanks to his knock against Orcas, thanks to Shubham Ranjane also scored 65* in 41 balls.

In addition to Du Plessis, Adam Milne took a five-fer and was instrumental in Texas’s victory over Orcas by 51 runs. Milne picked 5/23, while Noor Ahmad and Akeal Hosein took two wickets each.

The Texas Super Kings are second on the MLC 2025 points table with seven victories from ten games. At an NRR of +1.603, they now have 14 points in their account. On July 13, the MLC 2025 final will take place.

Faf du Plessis breaks Virat Kohli’s big T20 record

Captain Faf du Plessis scripted history and overtook Virat Kohli in an elite list with his latest knock. The right-handed batter now holds the record for the most runs by a captain in the history of T20 cricket.

Du Plessis has scored 6575 runs in 202 innings across 207 matches, including eight centuries and 45 half-centuries. Overall, he has 11,847 runs in 422 T20s. Kohli, long the leader in this category, has slipped to second with 6564 runs as captain and 13,543 runs in total.

With 6358 runs, James Vince sits in the third spot in the list of captains with the most T20 runs. He has never captained the England cricket team.
