In IPL 2025, he finished as the highest run-scorer for the side and second-highest in the league with 717 runs. However, he failed to come good in IPL 2026, piling up just 270 runs in 13 games with two half-centuries.

On June 8, 2026, Suryakumar unfollowed Mumbai Indians on Instagram and deleted all of his posts associated with MI. His actions have led to rumours that he is expected to part ways with the side ahead of the next season.
