Hardik Pandya took three wickets against South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final.
Indian vice-captain Hardik Pandya got emotional after he delivered match-winning spell against South Africa in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29.
After opting to bat first, Virat Kohli (76) smashed the highest ever score by an Indian batter in the T20 World Cup final as India reached 176/7 in 20 overs. All-rounder Axar Patel also scored a crucial 47.
While chasing 172 runs, South Africa opener Quinton de Kock added 39 runs with the bat as the Proteas reached 101/3 in the first 12 overs.
Right-handed batter Heinrich Klaasen smashed a fighting 52 runs before India vice-captain Hardik removed him in the 17th over of the second innings, which changed the whole scenario of the match.
In the end, Hardik Pandya bowled a perfect final over as India defeated South Africa by seven runs to win their second T20 World Cup title.

It was all going against India when Klaasen was smashing bowlers all over the park. However, after all-rounder Hardik removed him, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma decided to give him the 20th over to bowl.
With 16 runs to be defended in the last over, Hardik delivered a match-winning over. On the very first delivery, he bowled a wide full toss, and Miller slammed over long-off, but Suryakumar took a stunning catch at the boundary rope.
Hardik then conceded just eight runs in the over as he defended the 16 runs. With this, India ended their 11-year ICC trophy drought. Soon after winning the match, Indian all-rounder Hardik got very emotional as he shed tears and hugged fellow teammates.
