Hardik Pandya captained Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 season is still a long way off, but the off-season backdoor meetings have already started. Several franchises like Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are expected to make important changes before the next season, especially after disappointing campaigns.
The two most successful franchises of the IPL, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, finished at the bottom half of points table in IPL 2026. Both the teams are known for their consistent performances, but the last couple of seasons didn’t go their way.
There also have been lots of trade talks about Hardik Pandya after the IPL 2026. Hardik has leading the MI since the last few season but hasn’t been upto the mark. In last edition, he scored 206 runs at an average of 22.89 and a strike rate of 138.26. He also took four wickets, with an economy rate of 11.43.
Despite a poor IPL 2026 season, Hardik Pandya remains one of the most valuable all-rounders, and this is why franchises are reportedly willing to invest heavily despite his recent performances.
CSK deny trading Ayush Mhatre for Hardik Pandya

As per the latest report from Hindustan Times, CSK are keen to sign Hardik Pandya before the next IPL season. However, Mumbai Indians are reportedly demanding a huge return if they agree to part ways with their captain.
Reports claimed that MI initially wanted Shivam Dube and young opener Ayush Mhatre as part of the deal. While Dube is an experienced Indian all-rounder, Mhatre is one of the brightest young talents, and he had an impressive IPL 2026 season.
However, CSK reportedly do want to trade Mhatre as they are considering him an important part of their long-term plans.
What is CSK’s offer to Mumbai Indians?

Instead of including Ayush Mhatre, reports claim CSK have proposed a different offer. CSK wants to give Shivam Dube and South African batter Dewald Brewis and Rs. 10 crore in cash.
If the valuation of the players and cash is combined, the overall trade is expected to be worth more than Rs. 20 crore. However, it is important to note that neither CSK nor MI have officially confirmed these reports.
What is CSK’s reported offer for Hardik Pandya?
According to reports, Chennai Super Kings have offered Shivam Dube, Dewald Brewis and Rs. 10 crore in cash to Mumbai Indians in exchange for Hardik Pandya.
Has Hardik Pandya’s move to CSK been confirmed?
No. The trade talks are only based on media reports, and neither Chennai Super Kings nor Mumbai Indians have made any official confirmation.
