Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has given a clarification on the incident he was involved in with a fan, the video of which went viral on social media on Tuesday.
A day or two after Pakistan’s exit from the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Rauf had a heated verbal battle with a fan on the street, and he threatened to turn it into a physical fight. It could have gone worse for both Rauf and the fan had the public nearby not intervened.
There could be an action from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Rauf for his outburst on the fan.
What happened between Haris Rauf and the fan?
Rauf was walking towards his hotel room with his wife when he had an ugly spat with a fan. In the video, Rauf can be seen getting angry at something said by the fan. The fast bowler tried to find some stones to throw at the fan, who could be heard saying that he was only asking for a picture.
Rauf was heard saying “Yeh tera India nahi hai (This is not your India)”. To this, the fan replied, “I am from Pakistan.”

Haris Rauf offers a clarification on his fight:
Hours after the video went viral across social media platforms, the fast bowler took it to Twitter to explain his actions.
He said, “I decided not to bring this on social media, but now that the video is out, I feel it’s necessary to address the situation. As public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of feedback from the public. They are entitled to criticise us. Nevertheless, when it comes to my parent and family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect toward people and their families, irrespective of their professions.”
