Five times a pair has registered a stand of 500 runs or more in Ranji Trophy history.
The Ranji Trophy is India’s premier red-ball tournament, which is the highest-level domestic platform for players to make a case for themselves for selection in the Indian test team. The tournament began in 1934. It is named after Ranjitsinhji, the first Indian to play international cricket.
Currently, 38 teams take part in the competition, with at least one team from each of the 28 states and four of the eight union territories.
A big partnership is often the difference between a win and a loss or a draw. There have been a few mammoth stands in Ranji Trophy history. In this article, we will talk about the top three partnerships in the Ranji Trophy.

3. 577 – Vijay Hazare and Gul Mohammad – Baroda v Holkar – 1946-47
The final of the Ranji Trophy 1947 between Holkar and Baroda saw one of the highest First Class cricket stands. Baroda’s Vijay Hazare and Gul Mohammad piled up 577 runs for the fourth wicket. Hazare scored 288 runs, while Gul Mohammad scored 319 runs.
This partnership helped Baroda reach 784 runs in 291 overs. Holkar got all out for 202 and 173 in their two innings, losing the final by an innings and 409 runs.
2. 594* – Swapnil Gugale and Ankeet Bawane – Maharashtra v Delhi- 2016/17
During the 2016 edition, in a game between Maharashtra and Delhi at Wankhede Stadium, Swapnil Gugale and Ankeet Bawane registered what was then the highest partnership in Ranji Trophy.
Batting first, Maharashtra declared their innings at 635/2 in 173 overs. Captain and opener Swapnil Gugale and No. 4 batsman Ankit Bawne added a record stand of 594 unbeaten runs for the third wicket. Bawne scored 258* off 500 balls, while Gugale scored 351* off 521 balls.
Delhi scored 590 in reply, with Rishabh Pant smashing 308 off 326 balls. That game ended in a draw.
1. 606* – Kashyap Bakle and Snehal Kauthankar – Goa v Arunachal Pradesh – 2024-25*
Goa’s Kashyap Bakle and Snehal Kauthankar registered their names in the Ranji Trophy history book by recording the highest partnership of 606* runs in the tournament’s history. They achieved this feat in the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 game against Arunachal Pradesh in Porvorim.
Batting first, Arunachal Pradesh were bowled out for 84 runs. In reply, Goa declared at 727/2, before bowling out Arunachal Pradesh for 92 runs to win the game by a record margin of an innings and 551 runs.
Kashyap Bakle and Snehal Kauthankar went on to plunder triple centuries during their unbeaten partnership of 606 runs in just 74.4 overs. Bakle made an unbeaten 269-ball 300 and Kauthankar scored 314* off 215 balls.
