Mushfiqur Rahim is Bangladesh’s highest run-scorer in test cricket.

Mushfiqur Rahim is Bangladesh’s longest-serving and most-capped international cricketer so far. He is his country’s leading international and test run-scorer. The wicket-keeper batter has played a crucial role in Bangladesh’s middle order for almost two decades.

Talking about test cricket, Rahim made his debut against England at Lord’s in May 2005 at the age of 18.

Mushfiqur has so far played 91 tests and scored over 5900 runs at a decent average of 38.81. The veteran cricketer has raised 11 centuries and 27 half-centuries till now in the longest format.

5. 175* vs Sri Lanka, Mirpur, 2022

Rahim’s fifth-highest score in test cricket came against Sri Lanka in Mirpur in May 2022. Batting first, Bangladesh were struggling at 25/5 at one point. Rahim played a splendid knock of unbeaten 175 runs off 355 deliveries, which helped the hosts put up a total of 365 runs.

In reply, Sri Lanka scored 506 runs after Angelo Mathews (145) and Dinesh Chandimal (124) notched up hundreds of their own. Bangladesh were then bundled out for 169 runs in the second innings and managed to set a low target of just 29 runs, which Sri Lanka chased down with ease.

4. 191 vs Pakistan, Rawalpindi, 2024

Mushfiqur Rahim played one of the most memorable innings by a Bangladeshi batsman in test cricket during the first match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Rawalpindi in 2024.

Batting first, Pakistan declared at 448/6 after Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel slammed centuries. In Bangladesh’s first innings, Mushfiqur played a match-winning knock of 191 runs off 391 deliveries, which guided the visitors to 565.

Bangladesh bowlers dismantled Pakistan for 146 in their second innings. While chasing 30 runs, the visitors won by 10 wickets and recorded their first-ever test match win over Pakistan. Mushfiqur Rahim was named the Player of the Match for his marathon innings.

3. 200 vs Sri Lanka, Galle, 2013

Rahim made his maiden test double-century against Sri Lanka in Galle in March 2013. Sri Lanka declared at 570/4 after Kumar Sangakkara, Lahiru Thirimanne, and Dinesh Chandimal recorded hundreds.

In reply, Mushfiqur showcased his class with the bat. The keeper-batter played a glorious knock of 200 runs off 321 deliveries, which took his side to 638.

Sri Lanka set a target of 268 runs after they declared their second innings at 335/4. The match ended in a draw, and Rahim was named the Player of the Match for his brilliant double hundred.

2. 203* vs Zimbabwe, Mirpur, 2020

Mushfiqur slammed his third double-century against Zimbabwe in a one-off test match in Mirpur in February 2020.

Zimbabwe scored 265 runs in their first innings. Bangladesh declared their first innings at 560/6. The main highlight of the innings was Mushfiqur’s unbeaten double-century. The right-hander scored 203* off 318 deliveries, including 28 fours.

Mushfiqur’s knock helped Bangladesh win the match by an innings and 106 runs.

1. 219* vs Zimbabwe, Mirpur, 2018

Mushfiqur Rahim’s highest score of 219* is also the highest individual score by a Bangladesh batter in test cricket. It came during the Mirpur test against Zimbabwe in 2018.

Batting first, Bangladesh were struggling at 26/3 at one point. Rahim played an outstanding knock of 219* off 421 balls, with 18 fours and one maximum. Rahim’s stunning knock guided Bangladesh to 522/7 before they declared their first innings.

In reply, Zimbabwe scored 304 runs in their first innings. Bangladesh then scored 224/6 in their second innings before declaration. They set a massive target of 443 runs for the visitors and then bowled them out for 224 and won the game by 218 runs.
