Rohit Sharma hit a century on his test debut in 2013 against West Indies.

Rohit Sharma is one of the greatest all-format openers of all time. Rohit has numerous match-winning knocks in international cricket against various oppositions and in various conditions.

Talking about test cricket, Rohit made his debut against the West Indies at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata in November 2013. Although he hit a century on his test debut, the initial years of his test career were marred by injuries and inconsistency with the bat.

He got a second wind in his career when he was promoted to open in 2019. Since then, Rohit looked great in whites until in 2024, where his form took a dip and hit all time low.

So far, Rohit Sharma has played 67 tests and scored 4301 runs in 116 innings he has batted at an average of 40.57. The right-handed batter has made 12 centuries and 18 half-centuries in the longest format.

5. 131 vs England, Rajkot, 2024

Rohit’s fifth-highest test score came during the Rajkot test match against England in February 2024. Batting first, India scored 445 runs.

Skipper Rohit slammed 131 runs off 196 deliveries, which helped the hosts post a hefty first innings total. In reply, Ben Duckett’s 153-run knock helped the visitors reach 319 in the first innings.

In India’s second innings, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 214 runs, which helped the hosts post 430 runs before declaring the innings and setting a target of 557 for the visitors. While chasing, England were bundled out for just 122. India won the match by a very huge margin of 434 runs.

4. 161 vs England, Chennai, 2021

On a spin-friendly Chennai track, Rohit made his fourth-highest score in test cricket against England in 2021. The senior opener made 161 runs off 231 deliveries, including 18 fours and two sixes.

Rohit’s knock helped India reach 329 runs in the first innings. England were bundled out for 134 runs in their first innings. In the second innings of India, they scored 286 runs and set a target of 482 runs. While chasing, England were all out for 164 runs and lost the match by 317 runs.

3. 176 vs South Africa, Visakhapatnam, 2019

Rohit opened for the first time in test cricket during the first match against South Africa in Visakhapatnam in October 2019. The Indian stalwart showcased his class by smashing two hundreds in the same test.

In India’s first innings, openers Mayank Agarwal’s 215 and Rohit’s 176 helped the hosts score 502/7 before declaring the innings. In reply, South Africa scored 431 runs.

In the hosts’ second innings, Rohit made 127 runs as India set a target of 395 runs for South Africa. While chasing, the Proteas were bundled out for 191 runs and lost the match by 203 runs. Rohit was adjudged Player of the Match for his centuries in both innings.

2. 177 runs vs West Indies, Eden Gardens, 2013

Rohit Sharma scored his maiden test century on his debut test match against the West Indies in 2013. Rohit played a match-winning knock of 177 runs as India amassed 453 runs in the first innings. West Indies were all out for 234 and 168 runs.

Rohit’s knock helped India clinch the Kolkata test by an innings and 51 runs. He was adjudged Player of the Match.

1. 212 vs South Africa, Ranchi, 2019

Indian opener Rohit scored his maiden test double-century during the Ranchi test against South Africa in October 2019.

Batting first, India declared at 497/9 after Rohit slammed 212 runs off 255 deliveries, including 28 fours and six maximums. South Africa were bundled out for 162 and 133 runs.

India won the match by an innings and 202 runs. Rohit was named Player of the Match for his brilliant double hundred.
