Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are considered one of the most exciting teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The franchise has been a batting powerhouse over the years, being home to superstars like Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have participated in three IPL finals – 2009, 2011, and 2016, but have failed to win the competition. Despite not going all the way, the team has given fans several memorable moments that will go down in the archives.

5. Chris Gayle – 117 vs Punjab Kings, 2015, Bengaluru

Chris Gayle is one of the greatest RCB batsmen in IPL history. He was at his explosive best in the 40th match of IPL 2015 in Bengaluru against Punjab Kings (previously Kings XI Punjab).

Batting first, the Caribbean batter smashed 117 off 57 balls, including seven fours and 12 sixes. He was well supported by AB de Villiers, who scored 47 off 24 balls, adding 71 runs for the second wicket.

RCB won the game by 138 runs.

4. Chris Gayle – 128* vs Delhi Capitals, 2012, Delhi

Chris Gayle slammed an unbeaten 128-run knock against Delhi Capitals (previously Delhi Daredevils) in Delhi in IPL 2012.

Opening the innings, Gayle held one end and slammed 128 off 62 balls, including seven fours and 13 towering sixes to power the team to 215/1. It was also his third hundred in IPL history.

In response, Delhi put up a strong fight but were eventually restricted to 194/9, giving RCB a 21-run win.

3. AB De Villiers – 129* vs Gujarat Lions, 2016, Bengaluru

The next name on the list is AB de Villiers, who scored an unbeaten 129 against Gujarat Lions in Bengaluru in IPL 2016.

Batting first, De Villiers lit up the crowd, scoring 129 off 52 balls, including 10 fours and 12 sixes. He added 229 runs with Virat Kohli for the second wicket.

He was named Player of the Match in RCB’s 144-run win.

2. AB De Villiers – 133* vs Mumbai Indians, 2015, Mumbai

AB de Villiers was in his best form in the 46th match of IPL 2015 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians.

Coming in at 20/1, De Villiers stitched an unbeaten 215-run stand with Virat Kohli for the second wicket. The South African superstar smashed an unbeaten 133 off 59 balls, including 19 fours and four sixes, to guide the team to 235 runs in the first innings.

Bengaluru won the game by 39 runs and AB De Villiers was named Player of the Match for his efforts.

1. Chris Gayle – 175* vs Pune Warriors India, 2013, Bengaluru

Chris Gayle holds the record for the highest individual score by an RCB batsman in IPL with his unbeaten 175-run knock against Pune Warriors India in the 2013 edition at Bengaluru.

Batting first, the RCB lineup was led by Gayle’s fireworks. The Caribbean batter took on the attack from the first ball, smashing 13 fours and 17 sixes during his 66-ball stay.

He received support from AB de Villiers, who applied the finishing touches to the innings by scoring 31 off eight balls, propelling RCB to 263/5. RCB ultimately won the game by 130 runs.
