With a whitewash over Bangladesh, India inched closer to the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 final.

After clinching the second test at the Green Park stadium in Kanpur by seven wickets, India whitewashed Bangladesh 2-0 in the two-match test series.

After 35 overs on day 1, no play was possible on day 2 and day 3 due to rain and wet outfield. The game resumed on day 4, and Indian bowlers restricted Bangladesh’s first innings total to below the 250-run mark. Momimul Haque played a fighting knock of 107*, while Jasprit Bumrah bagged a three-wicket haul.

In India’s first innings, the hosts shattered many records. India registered the fastest team 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250. The hosts declared at 285-9 after batting for 34.4 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal (72) and KL Rahul (68) played blistering knocks, whereas other Indian batters also chipped in with cameos.

In the second innings, Bangladesh were outclassed by the Indian bowling attack. Opener Shadman Islam played a gritty knock of 50 runs, but the visitors were bundled out for 146 and could set a target of only 94 runs for the hosts. For India, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja all took three wickets each. While chasing, opener Jaiswal cracked a fifty again as the hosts won the Kanpur test by seven wickets.

Earlier, India had won the Chennai test by 280 runs.
