New Zealand earned their maiden points in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.

New Zealand defeated Bangladesh in a rain-hit second test match played at the Sher-e-Bangla cricket stadium in Mirpur. Kiwis chased down a low total of 137 runs in the fourth innings. Mitchell Santner (35) and Glenn Phillips (40) added a match-winning unbeaten 70-run stand for the 7th wicket to win the game for Blackcaps. New Zealand have also opened their account in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points tally.

New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by 4 wickets to equal the series 1-1. Bangladesh made a huge jump after winning the first test match of the series and now dropped down to 4th position with 50 PCT points and 12 overall points in 2 test matches. New Zealand have jumped to third place from 8th and added 50 PCT points to their tally. Both of the teams contested for 24 points and with the series ending up in a draw 1-1, both ended up with 50 PCT points.

Pakistan remain table toppers

Pakistan remain at the top of the points table with 100 PCT points and 24 overall points. Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by a 2-0 margin to win the two-match test series that took place in July 2023. India are now second in the table below Pakistan. India drew the first test against West Indies in July 2023 and that made India miss crucial 8 points. India with one win and one draw placed second with 66.67 PCT points and 16 overall points.

Defending Champions Australia are 5th in the table with 30 PCT points and 18 overall points. Australia suffered an over-rate penalty in their Ashes campaign against England. Australia drew the Ashes 2023 with a scoreline of 2-2 against England. England have 9 overall points and 15 PCT points in 5 games and they are placed 7th. West Indies are 6th with 16.67 PCT points and 4 overall points after 2 test matches. Sri Lanka have slipped down to 8th place with zero points.

South Africa will be opening their ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 campaign against India in the upcoming two-match Test series, while table toppers Pakistan will resume their campaign against Australia in a three-match Test series starting on 14th December. Bangladesh bowlers had a dominating start in the fourth innings and brought down New Zealand at 69 for 6 in their chase. But the 7th wicket partnership between Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner ensured New Zealand’s win in the game.
