Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the test series to gain high in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points table.

After winning the first test by a massive margin of 328 runs, Sri Lanka entered the second and final test against Bangladesh in Chattogram as favorites. And it ended in the same way. The hosts didn’t have an answer to Sri Lanka’s performance, and they ended up losing the two-match test series 2-0. The second test went to the final day, but the target given by the visitors was out of reach.

It was another dominating batting performance by the visitors. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. They went on to post a massive total of 531 runs in 159 overs. Interestingly, none of the Sri Lankan batters reached a century. But six batters scored fifty each in the game. Kamindu Mendis was unfortunate and remained unbeaten at 92.

Earlier, Kusal Mendis (93) and Dimuth Karunaratne fell short of a hundred in their innings. Nishan Madushka (57), Dinesh Chandimal (59), and skipper Dhananjaya de Silva (70) also contributed. However, Bangladesh had a poor performance, and they got all out for just 178 runs and gave away a massive lead of 353 runs.

In the second innings, Sri Lanka declared at 157/7 to set a massive target of 510. The hosts tried hard, but only reached 310 and lost the game by 192 runs. Kamindu Mendis, who scored 367 runs in the series with three wickets, won the Man of the Series award. With this, Sri Lanka won their first series win in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2023-25.
