India had a commanding day 1 with the bat in IND vs AFG one-off Test.
Indian Cricket Team made a solid start to the one-off Test against Afghanistan Cricket Team. The match between the two teams got underway on Saturday at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur in New Chandigarh. The toss went in favour of India, who opted to bat and made day tough for bowlers.
India had a decent start to their innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal (24) and newly appointed vice-captain KL Rahul (100) adding 41 runs for the opening stand. Jaiswal struggled to go big but Rahul ensured that he made it count and registered a terrific century.
Rahul got brilliant support from Sai Sudharsan (81), who hit a vital century, adding 139 runs for the second wicket. The latter had a great opportunity to hit his maiden Test century, but fell at crucial juncture. However, the hero of the day yet again was captain Shubman Gill (103*).
Shubman Gill hammered yet another century, while Rishabh Pant (50*), who was sacked as vice-captain of Test team, made a mark in his 50th Test. He hit a half-century as India ended day one at 368 for three.

The opening sessions on day two of the one-off test IND vs AFG will begin at 9:30 AM IST, with the session set to end at 11:30 AM IST. Following it will be a 40-minute lunch break, from 11:30 AM to 12:10 PM IST. It will be followed by the second session, running from 12:10 PM to 2:10 PM IST.
The tea break will last 20 minutes, after that. The last sessions on Day 2 at Mullanpur will run from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM IST. An extra 30 minutes is allowed to cover the daily quota of overs.
