The fifth IND vs AUS test will be played from January 3 in Sydney.
Australia are leading the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 by 2-1 after four captivating tests.
India started the series with a dominant 295-run win in Perth, but Australia responded strongly at the Adelaide Oval with a thumping 10-wicket victory in the pink ball test. The third test in Brisbane ended in a rain-marred draw before Australia won the Melbourne test by 184 runs in the final session.
India will be hoping for a better performance from their top order, which has failed on all but one occasion in this series. The team has often been bailed out by youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Kumar Reddy, but senior players—Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Rishabh Pant—are yet to deliver.
Australia, on the other hand, have made a bold decision to drop the experienced Mitchell Marsh for Tasmanian all-rounder Beau Webster. Webster has featured in 93 First-Class (FC) games, scoring 5,297 runs at an average of 38.
The teams will now head to the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) for the final test of the series.
