Australia thoroughly dominated day 2 of the ongoing third test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 at the Gabba in Brisbane, courtesy of hundreds from Travis Head and Steve Smith.
India took a strong position at the start of the day as Jasprit Bumrah removed Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney before Nitish Kumar Reddy dismissed Marnus Labuschagne.
However, Travis Head once again counter-attacking superbly against India to hammer his second consecutive test century, blasting 152 runs off 160 balls with the help of 18 fours.
Steve Smith rocked back to form to record his first test century since June 2023. He scored 101 off 190 balls and formed a partnership of 241 (302). This was Smith’s 10th test century against India and his 33rd in test cricket.
Jasprit Bumrah brought India back with wickets late in the day and sealed a five-wicket haul. Even then, Australia crossed the 400-run mark and have three wickets still in hand.

To cover up for the lost overs of day 1, day 3 is scheduled to have an early start by 30 minutes and will be extended 30 minutes at the end.

2nd session: 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM IST / 3:00 AM to 5:00 AM GMT / 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM AEST
Tea break: 10:30 AM to 10:50 AM IST / 5:00 AM to 5:20 AM GMT / 3:00 PM to 3:20 PM AEST
3rd session: 10:50 AM to 12:50 PM IST / 5.20 AM to 7:20 AM GMT / 3:20 PM to 5:20 PM AEST
