IND vs BAN: 3 records which Bangladesh cricketers can achieve in the test series

The IND vs BAN two-match test series will be played from September 19 to October 1.

After whitewashing Pakistan in the two-match test series in Rawalpindi, the confident Bangladesh cricket team will face the dominant Team India in the upcoming test series. The two-match test series will be played from September 19. Chennai will host the opening fixture and the second test will be played in Kanpur.

Recently, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has named their 16-member squad for the upcoming test series against the Indian cricket team. Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue to lead the side.

Bangladesh will miss the services of left-arm seamer Shorfiul Islam, who suffered a groin injury in Pakistan. The board has included uncapped batter Jaker Ali Anik in their squad to take on India.

Ahead of the two-match test series against the Asian Giants, let’s have a look at three Bangladesh cricketers who are on the verge of achieving milestones in the longest format.

1. Mushfiqur Rahim – Needs 108 runs to complete 6000 test runs

After performing brilliantly in the Pakistan test series, veteran wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim is aiming for a huge landmark in the upcoming test series against India.

The 37-year-old Mushfiqur needs 108 runs to become the first Bangladesh batter to achieve 6000 runs in test cricket. The right-handed batter has amassed 5892 runs in 90 tests at an average of 39.01 till now.

2. Shakib Al Hasan – Needs 8 wickets to complete 250 test wickets

Veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan eyes a historic milestone during the two-match test series against India. Shakib needs eight more wickets to become the first Bangladesh bowler to reach the landmark of 250 wickets in the longest format. The left-arm spinner has scalped 242 wickets in 69 test matches at a bowling average of 31.31.

3. Taijul Islam – Needs 5 wickets to complete 200 test wickets

Veteran left-arm spinner Taijul Islam could become the second Bangladesh bowler to pick 200 test wickets after Shakib Al Hasan.

Taijul needs five more wickets during the two-match test series against the Rohit Sharma-led side to achieve the milestone of 200 test scalps. The 32-year-old Islam has played 69 tests and taken 195 wickets at an average of 31.92.
