IND vs BAN: List of all Bangladesh batsmen to hit test century against India

Mushfiqur Rahim has registered two centuries in the IND vs BAN test matches till now.

It has been a challenging task for the Bangladeshi batters to score a century against the Indian cricket team in test cricket till now.

Despite Bangladesh’s consistent improvement and memorable victories over India in limited-overs cricket, they have been thoroughly outclassed by their neighbours in test cricket.

Only a few Bangladeshi batters have managed to record a three-figure score against India in test matches.

In this article, let’s take a look at Bangladesh batters who have scored a test century against the Indian cricket team till now.

IND vs BAN: List of all Bangladesh batsmen to hit test century against India

1. Aminul Islam – 145 runs in 2000

Aminul Islam is the first Bangladesh batter to hit a test century against the Indian cricket team. Islam achieved this historic feat when India toured Bangladesh for a one-off test match in November 2000.

Middle-order batter Aminul played an outstanding knock of 145 runs off 380 deliveries, which included 17 boundaries. It helped his side post 400 runs in the first innings. But the hosts lost the test by nine wickets.

2. Mohammad Ashraful – 158* runs in 2004

When India toured Bangladesh in 2004, Mohammad Ashraful made the highest score by a Bangladesh batter against India in tests.

Ashraful achieved this huge milestone during the second IND vs BAN test match in Chattogram. The right-handed batter made 158* runs off 194 balls, with 24 fours and three sixes, which helped Bangladesh reach 333 in the first innings.

Despite Ashraful’s efforts with the bat, Bangladesh lost the match by an innings and 83 runs.

3. Mushfiqur Rahim – 101 runs in 2010

During the two-match test series between India and Bangladesh in 2010, veteran wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim became the third Bangladesh batter to slam a century against India in test cricket.

During the opening test match of the series in Chattogram, Mushfiqur played a fighting knock of 101 runs in 114 deliveries, with 17 fours and one six, while chasing a huge target of 414 runs.

Mushfiqur’s innings went in vain as the hosts lost the test by 113 runs.

4. Tamim Iqbal – 151 runs in 2010

During the second test match in Mirpur in 2010, opener Tamim Iqbal played a terrific knock of 151 runs in 183 balls, with the help of 18 fours and three sixes in Bangladesh’s second innings.

In the first innings, the left-handed batter was bowled by Zaheer Khan for an eight-ball duck but bounced back in the next innings to record a three-figure score. However, Bangladesh lost the match by 10 wickets.

5. Mushfiqur Rahim – 127 runs in 2017

Wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim is the first Bangladesh batter to hit a test century against India in India. The veteran cricketer achieved this feat in Hyderabad when Bangladesh toured India for a one-off test match in 2017.

In the first innings, Virat Kohli’s 204-run knock helped India score 687/6 before they declared their innings. In reply, Mushfiqur played a superb knock, scoring 127 runs off 262 deliveries, with 16 fours and two sixes, which helped his side post 388 runs.

Mushfiqur was dismissed by off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for 23 runs in the second innings as Bangladesh lost the match by 208 runs.

6. Zakir Hasan – 100 runs in 2022

Bangladesh opener Zakir Hasan hit a gritty hundred against India during the opening fixture of the two-match test series in Chattogram in 2022.

Zakir was dismissed by the Indian seamer for 20 runs in the first innings as Bangladesh were bundled out for only 150 runs in reply to India’s 404-run total.

India set a huge target of 512 runs for the hosts. Hasan played a fighting knock of 100 runs off 224 deliveries, including 13 fours and one six. However, his side lost the match by 188 runs, and his knock went in vain.

7. Mominul Haque – 102* in 2024

Left-handed middle-order batsman Mominul Haque is the latest in line of the few Bangladeshi batsmen who have notched up a century against India in the longest format. Mominul achieved this feat in the Kanpur test in 2024 during Bangladesh’s first innings.

Mominul, with this hundred, extended his tally to 13 hundreds, which is the most by any Bangladeshi batter in test cricket.
