IND vs BAN: No rest for Jasprit Bumrah as BCCI announces 16-man squad for 2nd test in Kanpur

The second IND vs BAN test match will be played from September 27 to October 1 in Kanpur.
Shortly after India’s win in the first test against Bangladesh in Chennai, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced 16-member squad for the second test, which will be played in Kanpur from September 27.
The Rohit Sharma-led side thrashed Bangladesh by 280 runs in the opening test match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on September 22.
For the second test match, the selection committee has retained the same squad that was picked for the Chennai test. While many speculated rest for Jasprit Bumrah and Rishabh Pant, they’ve been included in the squad for second test as well.
Veteran opener Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the side. Notably, there is no designated vice-captain for the second test as well. Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel are the two wicket-keeping options.
In the spin department, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will be supported by Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace attack along with Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Yash Dayal.

What happened in first IND vs BAN test match in Chennai
All-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin displayed stunning performance with the bat and ball to guide the hosts to a win by 280 runs in Chennai.
India made 376 runs in the first innings, where Ravi Ashwin slammed 113 runs and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja chipped with 86. In reply, Bangladesh were bundled out for 149 runs after Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah bagged four wickets.
India declared at 287-4 after Shubman Gill (119*) and Rishabh Pant (109) notched up fantastic centuries in the second innings and then set a massive target of 519 for the visitors.
While chasing, Bangladesh were outclassed by the Indian spin duo of Ashwin and Jadeja. The visitors were all out for 234 after Ashwin took six wickets and Jadeja scalped three wickets.
India won the match by 280 runs and strengthened their position at the top of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings. The Rohit Sharma-led side have won seven out of the 10 matches they have played so far. Their PCT currently is 71.67.
