More than two days of the second IND vs BAN test in Kanpur have been lost due to rain and a wet outfield.

The Indian batsmen brought the second IND vs BAN test back to life with their explosive batting in their first innings on Monday, which was day 4 of the match.

Only 35 overs of play was possible on the first three days at Green Park, Kanpur, as rain and the wet outfield it caused forced the players to stay in the dressing room.

The test match resumed on day 4 and India forced the issue of getting a result in their favour with aggressive batting. First, they bundled out Bangladesh for 233, which the visitors made in 74.2 overs.

India then batted ultra-aggressively since they would want to win this test in order to gain crucial World Test Championship (WTC) points. India, in fact, would want to win all their five home test matches – two against Bangladesh and three against New Zealand – before touring Australia for a five-match test series in order to feel safe about their WTC standings.

At Green Park, India broke historic batting records in test cricket by making the fastest team 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250. They finished at 285/9d in only 34.4 overs. Their run rate of 8.22 is the highest in a men’s test innings where a team has faced a minimum of 200 balls. This meant that the bowlers have now got a decent amount of time to bowl the visitors out once again.

India declared with a lead of 52 leads and took two wickets in Bangladesh’s second innings before stumps on day 4.

How many WTC points will both teams get if the IND vs BAN 2nd test in Kanpur is drawn?

In the WTC, if the test match is drawn, each team gets four points, while for a win, a team gets 12 points. This is why India pushed so hard with their intentful batting to have a shot at victory in the Kanpur test.

Currently, India are at the top of the WTC points table, with 71.67 PCT (percentage of points won), while Bangladesh are fifth with PCT of 39.29.
