England have picked three express speedsters in their playing XI for the 1st T20I against India.

England have confirmed their side for the 1st T20I against India a day out from the match. The IND vs ENG five-match T20I series will get underway on Wednesday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

On Tuesday, the Three Lions announced their playing XI. This is the first series in charge for the new white-ball head coach Brendon McCullum, who has been appointed as the all-format coach.

The talking point of England’s side is the presence of three express fast bowlers: Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, and Gus Atkinson. They will be supported by medium pacer and all-rounder Jamie Overton.

The spin department will be headed by the veteran Adil Rashid, with all-rounder Liam Livingstone in support with his multi-skill spin-bowling.

Jos Buttler had demoted himself to the No. 3 spot in the T20I line-up in England’s series win in West Indies in November and he will continue in his new position in the first T20I against India as well. While in the West Indies, it was Will Jacks who opened with Phil Salt, in Kolkata, it will be left-hander Ben Duckett who will come out as the opener.

The highly-talented and impressive pair of Harry Brook and Jacob Bethell form the middle-order with Livingstone and Overton.

Earlier, Brendon McCullum had confirmed that Phil Salt will don the wicket-keeping gloves as Buttler is recovering from a calf injury.
