IND vs ENG: Rohit Sharma breaks MS Dhoni's two records during 3rd test

Opener Rohit Sharma brought up his 11th test hundred in a splendid batting performance in Rajkot.
Indian skipper and opener Rohit Sharma has washed away the disappointment of previous two test matches and brought up his hundred at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot in the ongoing third test. Sharma smashed his 11th test hundred in a splendid counter-attacking knock against England. Rohit took India out of trouble with his batting performance and outstanding partnership along with Ravindra Jadeja.
Rohit Sharma brought up his hundred with a cut shot through point off Rehan Ahmed. He took only three balls after the tea break to complete his ton. During his stay at the crease, Sharma went past MS Dhoni in two different records.

Before coming into the game Rohit Sharma had 77 sixes to his name in test cricket and was one behind MS Dhoni. Rohit hit three sixes in the innings and went past Dhoni to become Indian batter with second-most sixes in test cricket. Only Virender Sehwag (90) has more sixes than Rohit in test cricket amongst Indian batters.

Also before coming into this ongoing third test in Rajkot, Rohit Sharma had 209 sixes to his name in international cricket as captain, just one behind former India captain MS Dhoni. With three sixes in the innings, Sharma broke MS Dhoni’s record for most sixes by an Indian captain in international cricket. Only Eoin Morgan (233) has more sixes than Sharma in international cricket as a captain.

Captain Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja took India out of crisis on the first day of Rajkot test. Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja added more than 200 runs for the fourth wicket. Ravindra Jadeja scored his 21st half-century in test cricket. India lost early wickets as Mark Wood dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal (10) and Shubman Gill (0) early in the first 30 minutes of first day’s play.
