BCCI picked a second-string squad for Asian Games 2023 event as the senior pros are busy with cricket's most prestigious prize, ICC Cricket World Cup. BCCI gave youngsters a chance to showcase their talent at a high level. Players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma, and Ravi Bishnoi will be using this as a platform to secure their place in the upcoming T20I World Cup in West Indies and USA.

Indian men’s cricket team will play in multinational asian sporting event for the very first time, as on two previous occasions in 2010 and 2014, BCCI denied sending any team for the championship. Along with India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh were the other 4 teams to directly qualify for the quarter-finals, as they were seeded above the teams qualified to play in the cricket event. Pakistan will be taking on Hong Kong, Sri Lanka will play Afghanistan, and Bangladesh will take on Malaysia in the quarter-finals round.

Nepal's dominating run in league round

Nepal have qualified for the knock-out round after defeating Mongolia and the Maldives in their group A game. Nepal have dominated their opponents in the league round games and also got their biggest-ever win in T20I format against Mongolia. They defeated Mongolia by 273 runs, which is the highest ever margin in a T20I format. Then, in the second game, they defeated Maldives by 138 runs. Nepal will be getting their second opportunity to play against India in the last month.
