IND vs NZ: What happened last time when India played a test match in Pune?

New Zealand are leading the IND vs NZ three-match test series 1-0 with two more games to go.
After thrashing Bangladesh 2-0, the Indian cricket team are hosting New Zealand for a three-match test series. This test series is crucial for the Asian giants as it is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.
The opening test between India and New Zealand was played at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where the visitors thrashed the hosts by eight wickets.
Talking about the match, India registered their third-lowest total (46) in test cricket after speedster Matt Henry bagged a five-wicket haul in the first innings. In reply, New Zealand slammed 402 as Rachin Ravindra played a wonderful knock of 134 runs.
India scored 462 runs in the second innings on the back of Sarfaraz Khan’s brilliant 150. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Rishabh Pant also notched up fighting half-centuries. While chasing 107, the Black Caps lost only two wickets and completed the chase. Rachin Ravindra was named Player of the Match.
The second test will be hosted in Pune from October 24, followed by the third test in Mumbai from November 1.
What happened last time when India played a test match in Pune?
So far, the Indian cricket team have played just two test matches at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. India lost one and won one.
The first-ever test India played in Pune was against Australia in 2017, which the host lost by a huge margin of 333 runs. Australia’s spinner Steve O’Keefe bagged 12 wickets in the match.
Pune hosted its second test match when South Africa toured India in 2019. India won the match by an innings.
Talking about the match, India slammed 601/5d in the first innings as Virat Kohli played a wonderful knock of 254*. South Africa were bundled out for 275 & 189 in their two innings as India won by an innings and 137 runs.
