The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday, November 5, announced the Indian Cricket Team’s squad for the upcoming test series against South Africa Cricket Team. Shubman Gill will captain a 15-member squad for the series, which will witness two games between both sides.
The first game will begin on November 14 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata followed by the second test to be played from November 22 at Guwahati’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium, which will host a test match for the first time. The test series against South Africa will be India’s third series in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27.
India’s vice-captain Rishabh Pant, who missed the home test series against the West Indies due to a foot injury, has made a comeback to the side. In his absence, Ravindra Jadeja was named as vice-captain of the squad. The Indian all-rounder grabbed a lot of limelight by winning Player of the Series award against the West Indies.
Prasidh Krishna and N Jagadeesan have been dropped from India’s squad for the test series against South Africa

Notably, there are only two changes in India’s squad for the test series against South Africa. After Pant’s return, N Jagadeesan has lost his place in the squad. He was included as a secondary wicket-keeper in the test squad.
Moreover, pacer Prasidh Krishna has been overlooked for the South Africa series following Akash Deep’s return. The rest of the squad, which hosted the West Indies last month, remains the same. Akash last played in the test series against England earlier this year.
