Team India reached New Delhi on July 4 after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title.

After a long wait due to Hurricane Beryl in Barbados, the Indian cricket team touched down in New Delhi on July 4, where they saw a huge welcome from the fans, who were awaiting to see their stars with the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 trophy.

The T20 World Cup 2024 winning squad, support staff and their families were struck in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl that passed through Barbados for the past three days.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah organized a special chartered flight for all the members, including the media, to bring them back home. The flight departed on July 2 and arrived in New Delhi at around 6:00 a.m. on July 3.

India ended their 11-year-long ICC title drought with a victory in the grand finale over South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 29 in Barbados. Star batter Virat Kohli was adjudged the Player of the Match. Speedster Jasprit Bumrah got Player of the Tournament award for his exceptional bowling throughout the global event.

Rohit Sharma became the second Indian skipper after MS Dhoni to win the ICC T20 World Cup. Dhoni won the inaugural championship in 2007. After a wait of 17 years, India finally got their second T20 World Cup trophy.

After winning the T20 World Cup 2024 title, the legendary trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from the T20Is.

After landing at the New Delhi airport, the Indian cricket team then went to ITC Maurya hotel, where they stayed before meeting the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Along with Virat, Rohit and head coach Rahul Dravid, BCCI president Roger Binny was also seen present at the hotel.

In a heartwarming gesture by the hotel staff, a special cake featuring the T20 World Cup trophy was prepared by them. Rohit, Virat, Dravid, and all-rounder Hardik Pandya were among the stars who took part in the cake-cutting ceremony.

The cake also featured some pictures of the Indian stars. Later today, the Men in Blue will depart for Mumbai after meeting PM Narendra Modi, where they’ll have an open-top bus ride from Marine Drive to iconic Wankhede Stadium from 5:00 PM IST to celebrate with the fans.
