India to host Men's Asia Cup 2025 in T20I format

India won the last edition of Asia Cup in 2023, which was played in ODI format.
In a recent development, it can be confirmed that India will host the next edition of the Men’s Asia Cup in 2025 in T20 format. On the other hand, the Asia Cup 2027 will be hosted by Bangladesh. The 2027 Asia Cup will be played in 50-over format.
Sri Lanka cricket team are the defending champions of T20 Asia Cup. The Island Nation defeated Pakistan in the grand finale in 2022. Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team are the reigning champions of the ODI Asia Cup. The Men in Blue crushed Sri Lanka in the championship match and lifted the title in 2023.
India have the hosting rights of Asia Cup T20 2025
On July 27, 2024, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) released an Invitation for Expressions of Interest (IEOI) document. The IEOI document invites parties for the ACC sponsorship rights for the period from 2024 to 2027.
The 2025 and 2027 editions of the Men’s Asia Cup will be hosted by India and Bangladesh respectively. In both marquee events, six teams will feature which includes: India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The sixth nation will be included on the basis of qualification. A total of 13 matches will be played in the prestigious tournament.
The documents, which states the dates, years, formats and venues regarding the ACC tournaments are tentative and might change in the near future without any liability to ACC.
“The details, including but not limited to the schedules, dates, years, formats and/or venues, regarding the ACC Tournaments given below are tentative and may be subject to change at anytime at the absolute discretion of ACC and without any liability to ACC,” the document mentions.
