India vs Pakistan Cricket World Cup 2023 match to take place in Ahmedabad on 15th October - Reports
India vs Pakistan clash is all set to take place on October 15 in the upcoming Men's ODI World Cup this year.
Ahmedabad, which is one of the largest stadiums in India, is all set to host the India vs Pakistan blockbuster clash in the World Cup.
The BCCI has shared the draft schedule with the ICC. The ICC will look into it before sharing it with the participating countries for their feedback. Once all the teams have submitted their feedback, the final schedule for the Men's ODI World Cup will be released.
According to the current draft schedule, the tournament is all set to begin on October 5. The 2019 finalists- England and New Zealand will lock horns in the opening match at Ahmedabad.
The Indian cricket team are all set to play their first game of the tournament in Chennai and it will be against Australia on October 8th.
According to reports, India will be playing their nine league matches in nine different venues. Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Dharamsala, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru are the nine venues allotted for the Indian team.
Ahmedabad to host the ODI World Cup final
Ahmedabad, which will host the opening game of the tournament, will also host the finals. The finals are expected to be played on November 19.
The draft schedule doesn't mention the venue for the semi-finals. The two semi-finals are expected to be played on November 15 and 16.
Pakistan will be playing in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Kolkata, apart from their clash against India which will be in Ahmedabad.
Talking about other marque clashes, Australia vs New Zealand will be played on October 29 in Dharamsala. Australia vs England will take place in Ahmedabad on November 4. New Zealand vs South Africa will be played on November 1 at Pune.
Since there is a delay in finalizing the schedule, the ICC are yet to release the ticketing process for the World Cup. Notably, the fixtures for the 2015 and 2019 men's World Cup were finalized more than a year in advance.
In May, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that the schedule of the ODI World Cup would be released during the World Test Championship Final. He did not mention the reason behind the delay. However, there is no proper update regarding the final schedule yet.
