Monank Patel will lead USA team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
The countdown for the start of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has begun, and we are just a few weeks away from the first match of the tournament, which will take place in Dallas. The USA and West Indies are the co-hosts. This tournament will feature 20 top teams from across the world, playing 55 matches in total.
On May 3 2024, the co-hosts USA also announced their squad, which has players from different parts of the world joining the team and representing them in the ICC event. Indian-born Monank Patel will be leading the team, and he is not the only player of Indian origin; there are a number of others. Here we will talk about all the Indian-origin players in the USA squad for the coming event.
List of all Indian origin cricketers in USA squad for ICC T20 World Cup 2024:
1. Monank Patel (Captain)
Born May 1, 1993, in Anand, Gujarat, Monank was born into a businessman family. His family migrated to the USA, where he started his cricketing journey. He has been playing professional cricket for this country since 2018 and is a top-order batter who keeps the wicket. Notably, Monank had also played U16 and U18 levels cricket for Gujarat.
2. Harmeet Singh
Harmeet Singh was born on September 7, 1992, in Mumbai. He is a bowling all-rounder who started his career while playing in the Indian domestic cricket. He played for Mumbai and Tripura in the domestic circuit. Harmeet even played an IPL match for Rajasthan Royals in 2013 as a local player. He represented India during the 2012 U19 World Cup. But in 2021, he moved to the USA and played club cricket; later, in March 2024, he made a place in the USA team.
3. Milind Kumar
Milind Kumar is another Indian-origin player in the squad that will take part in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. He was born in Delhi in 1991 and has played domestic cricket for Delhi and Sikkim. He has also played in the IPL for Delhi Daredevils, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru as a local player. In 2021, he announced his retirement from Indian cricket and moved to the USA. Milind has also played Major League Cricket and will now be playing the T20 World Cup for the USA.
4. Jessy Singh
The 31-year-old pacer Jessy Singh is another Indian-origin cricketer who was born in New York in 1993. He made his debut for the USA in 2015, and since then, he has played professional cricket for the country. He has already represented the USA in ODIs and T20Is. Apart from this, he has featured in MLC, CPL, and GT20 leagues as well.
5. Nisarg Patel
Born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Nisarg Patel is a spin-bowling all-rounder who will feature in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 for the USA. He made his List A debut for the USA in 2018 and played international cricket for this team in 2019. Until now, Nisarg has played 41 ODIs and 20 T20Is in his career.
6. Nitish Kumar
Nitish Kumar has an interesting story. He was born to an Indian-Canadian family in Ontario, Canada, in 1994. He even represented Canada at the international level and became the captain in 2016. He even played in the 2011 World Cup for Canada. Later in 2021, he featured in the MLC. With more opportunities awaiting him, he switched countries recently, made his international debut for the USA in April 2024, and now will be playing in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
7. Nosthusha Pradeep Kenjige
Nosthusha Pradeep Kenjige was born in an Indian family in 1991 in Alabama, United States. His family moved back to Bengaluru, India, where he started his journey and played cricket at the university level. In 2015, he again moved back to the USA, worked as a lab technician, and started playing cricket. In 2018, he got a chance to play List A cricket for the USA, and in 2019, he made his international debut. Nosthusha is a spin all-rounder who has played 40 ODIs and 4 T20Is.
8. Saurabh Netravalkar
Last but not least, Saurabh Netravalkar is probably the most popular Indian-origin player in the USA squad. The veteran pacer played U19 cricket for India during the 2010 U19 World Cup, along with KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Jaydev Unadkat. He made his FC debut in 2013 for Mumbai. But due to lack of opportunities, he moved to the USA, and in 2019, he made his international debut. So far, he has played 48 ODIs and 24 T20Is.
