G Kamalini, Vaishnavi Sharma receive maiden call-up as India Women announce squad for Sri Lanka T20Is

The T20I series between India and Sri Lanka will start on December 21.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the Indian Women’s team squad for the five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. G Kamalini and Vaishnavi Sharma are the two new names in the T20I squad and are expected to make their debut in the series.
The series against Sri Lanka will mark the preparations for the ICC T20 Women’s World Cup next year for the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side. The first match of the series will be played at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on December 21, while last match is scheduled to take place on December 30 in Thiruvananthapuram
Maiden call-up for G Kamalini and Vaishnavi Sharma in Indian T20I team
G Kamalini and Vaishnavi Sharma have emerged as promising options for the Indian T20I setup. Both these youngsters were also part of the Indian squad for the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year in Malaysia.
India defeated South Africa in the final to clinch the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. G Kamalini ended up as the third-highest run-scorer with 143 runs, whereas Vaishnavi Sharma picked up 17 wickets at an average of 4.35.
The ICC ODI World Cup-winner Renuka Thakur has made her return to the squad, while Sayali Satghare, Radha Yadav and Shuchi Upadhyay have been left out of the squad.
