IPL 2023: Updated Squads Of All 10 Teams For The Season
Big names traded and acquired as teams finalize squads for 16th IPL season
On the 31st of March, the IPL-Indian Premier League 2023 season will commence, and the squads for the upcoming season have already been determined. The Indian Premier League's 16th edition will take place in its traditional "home and away" format, with 10 teams competing in the tournament.
The first match of the tournament will feature defending champions Gujarat Titans against the four-time champions Chennai Super Kings. Fans are eagerly waiting to see Dhoni lead his team onto the field after a year-long break.
The auction that took place in December 2022 witnessed some big names being sold for huge amounts of money, with Sam Curran being the most expensive buy in history of IPL with a bid of 18.50 crore. Other prominent players like Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, and Nicolas Pooran also received significant investments from their respective teams.
With the teams now finalized, fans can look closer at their favorite sides' full squads. The upcoming season promises to be an exciting affair, with plenty of drama and action on the cards. Fans across the globe are eagerly waiting for the IPL 2023 season to begin, and with the first match just around the corner, the excitement is noticeable.
1. Kolkata Knight Riders
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) made a strong effort at the IPL 2023 mini-auction, with a budget of INR 7.05 crores for 11 player slots. They released many players, including Pat Cummins and Sam Billings. KKR traded in Shardul Thakur, Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. KKR secured the likes of Narayan Jagadeesan, Vaibhav Arora, Suyash Sharma and David Wiese at reasonable prices in the auction. They also purchased Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan and Mandeep Singh during the accelerated auction.

*Due to his injury, Shreyas Iyer will miss the majority of the matches, and Nitish Rana has taken over as the captain of KKR. However, there is a chance that Shreyas may recover and become available later in the League. Shakib and Litton Das will miss the first few matches because of their international duty.
2. Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are known for being strategic during IPL auctions, as seen when they secured Ben Stokes for INR 16.25 crores. They surprised many by choosing him over Sam Curran and also added Ajinkya Rahane to their squad. With the retirement of Dwayne Bravo, Stokes' presence is expected to be significant. In the past, CSK have successfully picked up relatively unknown players who later became game-changers. This time, they completed their 25-member squad by acquiring Shaik Rasheed, Nishant Sindhu, Ajay Mandal, and Bhagath Verma.

*Kiwi all-rounder Kyle Jamieson has already been ruled out of the tournament and the franchise have named South Africa’s Sisanda Magala as his replacement. Indian bowler Mukesh Choudhary will also miss the entire tournament, The franchise have roped in Akash Singh as his replacement.
3. Gujarat Titans
After winning the title in their first IPL ever, Gujarat Titans aimed to strengthen their squad in the IPL 2023 mini-auction after trading out Lockie Ferguson and Rahmanullah Gurbaz. They bought Kane Williamson, Odean Smith, KS Bharat, Shivam Mavi, Urvil Patel, Joshua Little and Mohit Sharma to replace the departed players.

4. Royal Challengers Bangalore
RCB, one of the most popular IPL franchises, had a settled squad and retained their core players for IPL 2023. They had a purse of 8.75 crores and released just five players. RCB made their first signing of the auction with Reece Topley, an English pacer, for 1.90 crore. However, RCB lost out on Manish Pandey to Delhi Capitals.

*Michael Bracewell has been brought in as a replacement for the injured Will Jacks in the IPL. Rajat Patidar will miss the first half of the tournament due to injury. Additionally, Josh Hazlewood is also out of action due to an injury.
5. Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions of the IPL, spent a massive amount of Rs. 17.50 crores to acquire Australian all-rounder Cameron Green in the 2023 auction. Green became the second-most expensive player in IPL history after a bidding war with Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. Mumbai Indians also added the services of Jhye Richardson, Piyush Chawla, Duan Jansen, Shams Mulani, Nehal Vadhera, and Vishnu Vinod to their squad. With a strong team that includes big names like Ishan Kishan, and Suryakumar Yadav, the Mumbai-based franchise looks set to perform well in the upcoming 16th edition of the tournament.

6. Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals had a disappointing IPL 2022 and entered the IPL 2023 auction with 19.45 crore and five spots to fill. They released four players and traded for pacer Aman Khan. The team made smart moves by signing Phil Salt, uncapped Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar, experienced batter Manish Pandey, and veteran pacer Ishant Sharma. They lost the bidding war of Cameron Green to Mumbai Indians but managed to sign Rilee Rossouw. With Ricky Ponting as the coach, Delhi Capitals aim to end their trophy drought in the upcoming season.

*Rishabh Pant is not available for IPL 2023 due to the accident he suffered in December 2022. David Warner will be the new captain of DC. Anrich Nortje will not be available for the first few matches because of his international duties.
7. Lucknow SuperGiants
The IPL auction held in Kochi sparked bidding wars among franchises as they looked to strengthen their squads for the upcoming season. Lucknow Super Giants made their second appearance in the auction and added players to improve their middle order, including West Indies player Nicholas Pooran for INR 16 crores, veteran spinner Amit Mishra for INR 50 Lakh, and experienced pacer Jaydev Unadkat. With these new additions, the franchise hopes to make a strong impact in the next season of the tournament.

*Due to his injury and incomplete fitness, it is likely that Mohsin Khan won't be able to take part in IPL 2023.
8. Sunrisers Hyderabad
405 players went under the hammer at the IPL 2023 mini-auction in Kochi. Sunrisers Hyderabad released Kane Williamson and had INR 42.25 crore going into the auction, the highest among all teams. They made a massive bid of INR 13.25 Crores for Harry Brook and secured him. Mayank Agarwal was also bought for INR 8.25 crore. Sunrisers Hyderabad hope to end their trophy drought running since 2016 with their new squad.

*Aiden Markram won't be able to participate in the first few matches because of his commitment to play for his country. Bhuvneshwar Kumar to lead the team in Markram’s absence.
9. Punjab Kings
English all-rounder Sam Curran became the most expensive player in IPL history after being signed by Punjab Kings for INR 18.50 crore in the IPL 2023 mini-auction. Despite missing out on Mayank Agarwal, they managed to secure Zimbabwe all-rounder Sikandar Raza for his base price of INR 50 lakh, but lost out on uncapped pacer Mukesh Kumar. The team also signed Harpreet Bhatia and three uncapped Indian cricketers. With their top-order sorted and strong pace duo, the team's chances have been boosted by the signings of Curran and Raza, but they still lack quality spinners. Punjab Kings left the auction with a squad of 22 players and INR 12.20 crore in their purse.

10. Rajasthan Royals
Rajasthan Royals bought Jason Holder for INR 5.75 crore, Adam Zampa for INR 1.5 crore, and Donovan Ferreira for INR 50 lakh in the IPL 2023 mini-auction. They signed Joe Root for INR 1 crore in the accelerated round. Despite having a low budget, they managed to retain key players and add depth to their squad. The Royals needed a batting all-rounder, and Holder fits their profile. They also strengthened their spin department with the signings of Zampa and Murugan Ashwin.
