Gujarat Titans confirm Kane Williamson's absence for the remainder of IPL 2023

The Kiwi suffered a knee injury against CSK and will return to New Zealand for treatment.
Kane Williamson will miss out on the 2023 Indian Premier League season after injuring his knee. Williamson badly hurt his right knee while attempting to save a six during the first innings.
The 32-year-old suffered an awkward landing but did brilliantly on the deep mid-wicket boundary to save two runs for his team. The Gujarat Titans went on to beat Chennai Super Kings by five wickets. Williamson was taken off the field to receive treatment while Sai Sudharshan replaced him for the run chase.
Gujarat Titans released a statement with the following update: "We regret to announce, Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2023, after sustaining an injury in the season opener against Chennai Super Kings. We wish our Titan a speedy recovery and hope for his early return."
The defending champions Gujarat Titans won the IPL in their debut season under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. They got Williamson for a base price of INR 2 crores and can name an injury replacement in the same bracket.
Cricket New Zealand also released a statement on Kane Williamson saying, "Following his official release from the Gujarat Titans with a knee injury, Kane Williamson will return to New Zealand to have the injury further assessed. Williamson suffered an injury to his right knee in the Titans' opening match of the IPL. Preparations are underway for him to return to New Zealand next week and be seen by relevant medical specialists to establish a treatment plan."
Gujarat Titans next face Delhi Capitals on Tuesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
