IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 11 & 12, RR vs DC & MI vs CSK
Rajasthan Royals climbed up to top of the IPL 2023 points table with their 2nd win of the season, while Chennai Super Kings entered top 4.
It was a doubleheader on the 10th evening in the IPL 2023. Rajasthan Royals outclassed Delhi Capitals at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, while Chennai Super Kings have beaten Mumbai Indians comfortably. In the first game of the day, Rajasthan Royals with a magnificent start from their openers gripped the game and held on till the final of the clash. Put into bat first, they scored 199 runs in their 20 overs. Chasing 200, Delhi Capitals had a poor start. They lost their two wickets in the first over. Delhi could not recover from the early blows and ended their inning at 142. RR won the game by 57 runs.
In the second game, CSK had a dominating run. MI’s opener had a good start but after the first wicket, they crumbled against Chennai’s spinners. Mitchell Santner and Ravindra Jadeja bagged 5 wickets to put MI on the back foot. MI’s middle order could not carry the momentum given by Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. They lost 4 wickets in 12 runs. Ajinkya Rahane with his quickfire knock made Chennai victorious. Rahane played a magnificent inning of 61 runs in 27 balls. Chennai with a superb batting performance won the game by 7 wickets.

Rajasthan Royals are back at the top of the table with a huge win over Delhi Capitals. They won the game by a huge margin of 57 runs and bettered their NRR. Chennai Super Kings with a win over Mumbai Indians have also made their entry in the Top 4. CSK with 4 points are placed in the 4th position in the table. Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are yet to open their account in the table. Delhi Capitals are placed at 9th place while Mumbai is at 8th position in the IPL 2023 points table.

The Orange Cap race gets bigger and better on Saturday. Jos Buttler snatched the cap from Ruturaj Gaikwad after Rajasthan Royals's first innings. Buttler’s 79 helped him touch the 152 runs mark. In the Capitals innings, David Warner with his 65 runs knock overtook Buttler and ended up at 158 with Orange Cap on his head. He also touched a milestone, becoming the quickest player to touch 6000 runs in IPL. Then again later in the evening, Ruturaj Gaikwad with 40 runs innings earned back the Orange Cap by overtaking David Warner. Ruturaj Gaikwad with 189 runs in three innings is leading the Orange cap list. David Warner with 158 runs is at 2nd, Jos Buttler with 152 runs is at 3rd, Kyle Mayers with 139 runs is at 4th and Shikhar Dhawan with 126 runs is at 5th place.

Rajasthan Royals leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal with his 3 wicket spell against Delhi is now leading the Purple Cap race. IPL 2022 purple cap winner has earned the Purple Cap overtaking Mark Wood. Mark Wood and Chahal both share the same number of wickets but Chahal with a better economy rate is now number one on the list. Chahal had a wonderful game against Delhi Capitals. He picked up 3 wickets in his four overs conceding only 27 runs. Against Punjab, he gave away 50 runs in 4 overs at the same venue. Mark Wood with 8 wickets is at Number 2, and Ravi Bishnoi with 6 wickets is at 3rd. Varun Chakravarthy is at 4th and Rashid Khan is at 5th with 5 wickets in IPL 2023 each.

On Sunday, once again a double header awaits the IPL fans. In the first game, Gujarat Titans will be hosting Kolkata Knight Riders at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Then the focus will shift to Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi Cricket Stadium where Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Punjab Kings.
