IPL 2023 Updated points table, Orange cap & Purple cap after Match 54 between MI & RCB

Mumbai Indians chased down 200 runs in just 16.3 overs against RCB in IPL 2023's reverse-fixture.

Mumbai Indians have found a key to chase down 200 totals anyhow in the IPL 2023. They have decimated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Suryakuamar Yadav with his blistering knock of 83 runs in 35 balls provided Mumbai with some energy in their playoff campaign. Mumbai have jumped to 3rd place from 8th after this game. MI had a great start to the chase with Ishan Kishan (42 in 21 balls) sending almost every ball to the boundary against RCB pacers.

Rohit and Ishan added 51 runs in 4.4 overs for the first wicket. Soon Rohit departed on just 7 runs, Hasranga provided RCB a much-needed breakthrough but they could not control SKY’s shots flying over the boundary. Suryakumar had a great partnership with young Nehal Wadhera who scored 52 runs in 34 balls. They both added 140 runs in 11 overs. It was all about these two guys when MI were chasing 200.

RCB with a counterattacking 3rd wicket partnership of 120 runs between captain Faf du Plessis (65) & Glenn Maxwell (68) paved the way for a good total on the board. Later, Dinesh Karthik with his 30 runs knock helped RCB post 199 runs. Mumbai Indians chased down 200 runs under the 17th Over.

IPL 2023 Updated Points Table:

6 teams are fighting their way out to two playoffs. Not often do we see a logjam in the IPL points table in the middle of the season. Mumbai Indians with a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore have made their case stronger. MI with a win against RCB have jumped to third place in the IPL 2023 points table. RCB with another loss are 7th in the table. Mumbai now have 12 points in 11 games. RCB are still on 10 points in their 11 games. Gujarat Titans are top of the table with 16 points in 11 games. The Titans have won 8 games so far this season. Chennai Super Kings are 2nd with 13 points in 11 games. Lucknow Super Giants are 4th with 11 points. Delhi Capitals are still at the bottom with only 8 points in 10 games.

IPL 2023 Updated Orange Cap:

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis is toying with the bowlers in the IPL 2023. Du Plessis after early blows had a quick scoring 120 runs partnership with Glenn Maxwell. Faf du Plessis contributed 65 runs in RCB’s total. He played 41 balls and smashed 5 fours and 3 sixes in his counterattack. Du Plessis is still the orange cap holder with 576 runs in 11 innings. Du Plessis has also widened the gap between him and number 2. Royals' opener Yashaswi Jaiswal is 2nd on the list with 477 runs in 11 innings. Gujarat’s Shubhman Gill is 3rd in the race with 469 runs. Chennai’s Devon Conway is 4th with 458 runs in 10 innings. Virat Kohli had a poor game against Mumbai Indians. He could only manage to score 1 run in 4 balls. With 420 runs he is 5th in the orange cap race.

IPL 2023 Updated Purple Cap:

The purple cap race remained unchanged after the Mumbai vs Bangalore clash. Gujarat Titans' strike bowler Mohammed Shami still has a purple cap in his custody. Shami has picked up 19 wickets in the IPL 2023. Shami has been bowling in great rhythm this season. His teammate Rashid Khan is chasing Shami closely with 19 wickets. Rashid Khan is 2nd in the race. Chennai Super Kings' pacer Tushar Deshpande has picked up his game after the initial failures. Deshpande is 3rd in this list with 19 wickets. IPL 2023 has been a fruitful season for Piyush Chawla as well. Chawla is 4th in this list with 17 wickets. Chawla failed to pick up a wicket against RCB, Chawla had his first off game in the IPL 2023. Kolkata’s Varun Chakravarthy is 5th in the race with 17 wickets.

What's in IPL on Wednesday?

Chennai Super Kings will take on bottom of the table team, Delhi Capitals at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Chennai Super Kings are going strong in the IPL 2023. They are currently 2nd in the points table with 13 points in 11 games. Chennai’s batting line-up had given them an extra advantage in this season. While Delhi Capitals are struggling and their batters are not in-form. Against RCB, DC opener Phil Salt smashed 87 runs in 45 balls. Delhi will look to carry the momentum against CSK. The Capitals chances to qualify for playoffs looks almost impossible, but they can put others away from the race as well. Delhi are 10th in the table with 8 points in 10 games.
